Great Earthquake
I believe these three accounts, when the sixth seal is opened and Jesus comes
(Rev 6:12-17), when the two witnesses are resurrected
(Rev 11:11-13), and when the great city Babylon is divided into three parts
(Rev 16:18-21) and is about to receive
the wrath of God, all run parallel, because in the scripture detail of each there is mentioned a great
earthquake. I believe one happens before the Day of the Lord and at His presence
(Ezek 38:18-20).
Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof
(Zec 14:3-5 KJV) "Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
{4} And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
{5} And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the
earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the
LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee."
(Isa 54:10 KJV) "For the mountains shall
depart, and the hills be
removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee."
First of all, in
Zechariah 14:3-5 it says, at the time when the LORD's feet stand on the
Mount of Olives that it is going to cleave in the midst. That what happens prior to the Mount of Olives cleaving in the
midst will be a great earthquake, worse than the one in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.
Note: When Jesus appears this second time
(Heb 9:28), the earth will shake
(2 Sam 22:7-18;
Isa 2:19-21;
13:13) and also the heavens
(Mat 24:29;
Mark 13:25;
Heb 12:26-27).
The day of the LORD is going to be terrible
(Joel 2:1-11). God is
going to shake the earth and it is going to "reel to and fro like a drunkard..."
(Isa 24:1, 19-23). The mountains and islands will move
(Rev 6:12). All will shake
(Ezek 38:18-23) at the presence of the Lord
(Nahum 1:5-6).
In that day when the Lord comes
(Joel 3:12-17) there will be a way prepared in which the
Mount of Olives will split in two making a great valley, with half of the mountain moving....
