Spiritual Pentecost first occurred Spiritual Pentecost first occurred fifty days after the resurrection of Christ and is initiated in each new believers life when God gives to him His Holy Spirit. The disciples (Mark 16:17-18) and others (Mat 7:22) had the Spirit of God with them (dwelleth with you, John 14:16-18) when they cast out devils (Mat 12:28) and worked miracles (1 Cor 12:9, Gal 3:5) but was not within them. The Spirit filled Pentecost had not yet occurred (Holy Ghost was not yet given, John 7:37-39) when Jesus spoke the following words, (John 4:34-38 KJV) "Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours. The word of God was being sown. People were becoming believers of the Gospel (a reaping was occurring). The fields were "white already to harvest" -- wheat ready to be reaped. Although harvest time was not ready in the natural, it was ready in the spiritual. There were feast that had to occur before Pentecost, and one was when the sheaf of the firstfruits of the harvest was waved before the Lord. Sheaf of the Firstfruits (Lev 23:9-14 KJV) "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD. And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings." Jesus is the firstfruits of them that sleep. (1 Cor 15:20-23 KJV) "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming." Fifty Days (Pentecost) When did Pentecost first occur? Fifty days from when the sheaf of the firstfruits was waved on the morrow (Sunday) after the sabbath (Saturday), after the children of Israel entered the promise land.. (Lev 23:15-21 KJV) "And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven R; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD. Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest. And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations." The harvest I am most looking forward to is when Jesus comes to reap (feast of ingathering S) His Church, body of believers.
