Marriage Supper of the Lamb
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
(Rev 19:6-9) occurs only when the Kingdom of
God is come
(Mat 26:29). Remember in
Luke 22:18 Jesus said,
"I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come
." I believe some form of wine will be served there at the Supper.
Old Testament and New Testament Similarities
Look at some similarities of what happens in Old and New Testament passages that
may help us picture the marriage supper of the Lamb and confirm its time. There were thunderings,
lightnings... and a voice of a loud trumpet before the LORD descended on mount Sinai in Exodus
19:16 -- things that happened before a select few were to see the God of Israel, and eat and drink
before Him, which could be a type of marriage supper of the Lamb. And there were voices, thunders,
and lightnings mentioned after the detail of the seventh angel poured out his vial into the
air in Revelation 17:18 and before the great city was divided into three parts. Some unique
responses that the fearful presence of the Lord is near.
(Exo 19:16-20 KJV) "And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
{17} And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
{18} And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
{19} And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
{20} And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up."
(Rev 16:17-20 KJV) "And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. {18} And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. {19} And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. {20} And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found."
Similar descriptions of the coming of our Lord
In verse 20 it says, "every island fled away, and the mountains were not found,"
and Revelation 6:14 says, "every mountain and island were moved," which are similar
descriptions of our Lord coming the second time
(Heb 9:28).
(Rev 6:14 KJV) "And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together;
1 and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."
Without holiness no man shall see the Lord
Before the Lord would come down on the mount in the sight of all children of Israel, they had
to be (holy) sanctified (Exo 19:14-15).
