The Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev 19:6-9) occurs only when the Kingdom of God is come (Mat 26:29). Remember in Luke 22:18 Jesus said, "... I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come ..."

Old Testament and New Testament Similarities

Look at the similarities of what happens in Old Testament and New Testament passages that may help one picture the marriage supper of the Lamb and confirm its timing. There were thunderings, lightnings and a trumpet before the LORD descended on mount Sinai in Exodus 19:16 (things that happened before a select few were to see the God of Israel, eat and drink before Him -- which could be type of marriage supper of the Lamb), and there were thunders, and lightnings mentioned after the detail of the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air in Revelation 17:18 and before the great city was divided into three parts. Some unique responses at the fearful presence of the Lord and that His anger is near.

"And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up." (Exo 19:16-20 KJV)

"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found." (Rev 16:17-20 KJV)

Then in verse 20 it says, "every island fled away, and the mountains were not found," and then in Revelation 6:14 says, "every mountain and island were moved," which are similar descriptions of our Lord coming the second time (Heb 9:28).

"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together ¹; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places." (Rev 6:14 KJV)

Before the Lord would come down on the mount in sight of all children of Israel they first had to be sanctified.

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai." (Exo 19:10-11 KJV)

"And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes. And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives." (Exo 19:14-15 KJV)

We have to be holy, sanctified to be able to see the Lord.

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:" (Heb 12:14 KJV)

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." (Mat 5:8 KJV)
